We (the Fells) reside in Denver, Colorado but wish we lived at Kuhio Shores #311!
Kauai has always been our favorite island. It's lush, natural beauty, still largely unspoiled, along with it's pace of life, has drawn us back time and again. Now that our dream of owning on the Garden Isle has finally been realized, we'd like nothing better than to share our island home with you. Although we have stayed all over the island and appreciate its varied splendors, we've found Poipu to offer more sunny days in which to enjoy all that this special place has to offer.
Our freshly-remodeled amenities are the ideal complement to the prime location of Kuhio Shores. Also, having rented many different accommodations during our own stays on Kauai over the years, we know some of the little touches we experienced (or wish we had) that make an island visit that much more blissful, and we've tried to incorporate them here. Come experience paradise Kauai-style and find yourself returning year after year as we have!

My husband and I stayed in this Unit and can't wait to return. We loved having the master bedroom open to ocean view. I would highly recommend this Unit.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kuhio Shores 311. you know you have an amazing location when people gather on the lawn below your balcony to watch the sunset every night. We enjoyed walking right next door to rent our snorkel gear and spend delightful hours swimming with the most beautiful and varied fish we encountered anywhere on the island (including a paid snorkeling day-long cruise). We watched surfers every evening from our balcony and saw numerous whales using our binoculars. We left the balcony door open every night as we drifted to sleep to the sound of the ocean waves. Could not have asked for better. Thanked you fells for ending your well-appointed condo to those of us who only make it to the islands on cherished vacation time!

My wife and I and our two adult daughters stayed here over Christmas and enjoyed every minute. When we arrived it was dark and rainy but watching the sunrise the next morning instantly confirmed that we had made a terrific choice. The condo is within walking distance of fine shopping, great restaurants and good beaches. Poipu is handy for exploring either the far western beaches and Waimea Canyon or going up to the north shore. We enjoyed provisioning at the markets in Koloa. The condo is well appointed, very clean and comes with beach chairs and coolers. The owners were very easy to work with and very responsive. One negative note: we found the Beach House Restaurant way over hyped with average food and extremely slow service. Merrima's and Roys were far superior.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The balcony is situated to where we saw both amazing sunrises and sunsets. Enjoyed watching surfers, turtles and whales from the balcony! Condo was appointed very well and exceeded our expectations. Bedroom mattress was very comfortable!

The views from this condo are amazing! Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. We enjoyed watching the turtles and the surfers from the balcony. The condo is beautifully decorated, furnished and had everything one could possibly need for a wonderful vacation. The owner is a pleasure to work with. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Kauai.

We had a great visit of this condo. It is the best condo we have ever rented. It was well stocked with all amenity. I can even find soy sauce :) It is almost like living in your own home. Because eating out in Kauai was very costly, we cooked most of our meals in the condo. Having all the seasoning available was very helpful. We loved this place. If we visit Kauai again, we will definitely rent this place again. Thanks, Jane, for making the condo so comfortable.

The condo was clean and well stocked with the usual supplies. The owner sweated the details: the Henckel cutlery comes to mind. Dull, dangerous knives are a pet peeve of mine. But the reason you stay at this condo is the OCEANVIEW. From the balcony, you see the surfers and the sea turtles. At night, watch the moon reflect off the waves. If you can't get enough, leave the bedroom doors open and listen to the ocean sounds as you fall asleep.

Gorgeous condo...we felt so spoiled to get to stay there for 10 days! Great location...close to beaches, sites, shopping and restaurants. Very quiet and the grounds are impeccably kept and the staff very friendly. Certainly a vacation for the memory books...Kauai is like heaven on earth!

The condo was absolutely beautiful and the view was even better. The welcome wine set the mood for the entire stay on Kauai. We enjoyed spending time relaxing and listening to the waves crashing on the rocks below and watching the Honu when it was sunny. Since it was early May we did not see any whales, however, we did see numerous pods of dolphins from the lanai almost daily. The condo was equipped with everything travelers need without bringing it ourselves including coolers, beach chairs, beach towels, snorkeling equipment, a fully equipped kitchen, and books of the island to give you some ideas of adventures, restaurants, and beach activities. The snorkeling was great at Poipu Beach just down the road but very rough beside the condo. This was our first condo experience and it was definitely a good one. If you want the amazing ocean views and a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere you should book early and consider this your first choice.

We have just returned from our sun filled holiday in Hawaii. We found our condo just as described. Totally renovated with quality cabinets, furniture and fixtures. The master shower is a pleasure on it's own. We spent many a morning and afternoon snorkeling with the turtles and fish right out in front of the Condo. When we saw local free divers hunting for fish we knew we must be in the right place, event the occaisional whale could be viewed from our balcony. If you are looking for a well equiped 2 bedroom condo right on the ocean in a quite building look no further. The owners were an e-mail away if we had any inquires as we looked for accomodation. They also took the time to welcome us upon our arrival and to ensure everything was in order. We had a small issue with the ice maker in the brand new fridge and the owners arranged for Albert the resident caretaker to address the issue the very next day. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a well equiped condo. The sunsets over the water are just an added bonus.

I love Kauai, it's my favorite island with its incredible natural beauty, tons of outdoor activities, and beautiful beaches. My favorite part of Kauai is Poipu, with its sunny days, awesome beaches, and great restaurants. My favorite place to stay is at Kuhio Shores. I love the location, right on the water, being able to listen to the surf and watch turtles in the waves while I drink my morning coffee. You can also walk to the new Kukui Ula Shopping Center and enjoy dinner at Merriman's and ice cream at Lapperts (not to mention the great shopping). I have stayed at a few of the condos at Kuhio Shores, and this one is my favorite, it's absolutely beautiful! In fact, I stayed in this condo a few years back before the new owners remodeled it and it is unrecognizable. Everything has been tastefully remodeled and updated. The kitchen is amazing with its island layout and view. The master shower has a cool pebble floor. The Tommy Bahama furniture is also very attractive and comfortable. The condo was outfitted with everything we needed to enjoy the beach: chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, and coolers. The owners clearly take pride in their condo and have done an incredible job decorating their unit. They were also super easy to deal with and made the whole rental process enjoyable.

We've stayed at this complex every year for the last 8 years and the location right on the water can't be beat. The homeowners association here takes excellent care of the building and grounds and it shows. This is a quiet place (other than the sound of the ocean) and is ideal for getting away from the "noise" of life. If you go in the winter months, you can watch from your own lanai whales surfacing and breaching. You also see turtles surfing in the waves right below your windows. These are awesome sights! As for this unit, the others we've stayed in pale in comparison. This one was just remodeled so everything is in pristine condition. I absolutely loved the open kitchen with granite island and breakfast bar. While standing at the range cooking breakfast or dinner, I just had to glance up to see the ocean and watch surfers and whales. This condo is much better equipped than most for all your needs and wants - from the Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrella, to a plethora of beach toys and boogie boards for the kids, to high-quality cookware and utensils, and there's wi-fi if you must do some work. This place is top-notch. Be sure to step outside and watch the sunrise or sunset and don't forget to notice the vast sky full of stars at night. You won't regret staying here.

My folks have stayed in 3 units at Kuhio Shores and this is by far their favorite. It's very nice and feels really spacious. They'll be back!

You'll love this condo! Beautifully remodeled and literally ten yards from the ocean. The sound of surf pours through the space all day and night. Comfortably furnished, well equipped and a very short walk from a good snorkel beach where we saw monk seals and turtles galore. The area is quiet at night, and the view of the stars from the lanai is spectacular. You just couldn't ask for a better location if you want to be on the beach in Hawaii. Enjoy!

We LOVED Kauai, Kuhio Shores and your condo. Perfect location, perfect lanai, perfect views. We did a lot on the island, but it was always hard to leave the lanai. We started off the day watching the sunrise and sea turtles playing in the waves; and ended the day watching sunset and whales. Adjacent to the property was the Beach House Restaurant and the beach in front of it is listed as one of the best snorkeling beaches on Kauai. All we had to do was walk out the door and go a few steps down the road, and we could snorkel. There's also snorkeling on the other side of the property. All of the amenities were top of the line, from the kitchen appliances to the bathrooms, to the very comfortable beds. We all felt "at home" and would stay there again in a heartbeat! Mahalo!
Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Luxurious Vacation Home
I had the chance to stay here in October on a "Girls Vacation". It was beyond what I had hoped for. My friends back at home were so jealous when I showed them the photos of the place. First, the view is stunning. The description is not exaggerating that you are about 30 feet from the water! Open wide the windows or sit on the balcony and imagine you are sitting on your own private beach. Every day I saw multiple turtles swimming and eating a meal in the waves near the rocks. Second, the accommodations themselves are magnificent. I felt as if I was staying in a five-star luxury hotel. The owners spared no expense on this place---granite countertops, tile, high-end appliances, tasteful and very comfortable beds and furniture (no tacky second-hand stuff here). Third, the location is on the "sunny" side of Kauai. The best beaches are on this side, including some tame ones for small kids. It is literally next door to one of the best restaurants on the island, The Beach House. We strolled next door to enjoy a cocktail and appetizer at sunset. Beyond the Beach House is a great snorkeling beach, also a short stroll. We got up early one morning and just hopped on over for a quick snorkel. Kuhio Shores even has an outdoor shower and foot wash to rinse off after. I can't imagine a better place to vacation on my favorite Hawaiian island. I'm planning to bring my husband and two little boys back for a family vacation this summer. Aloha! More...

Loved Our Stay at Kuhio Shores

Why did we like staying here so much? First of all it's the location. Your private lanai is only 30 feet or so from the water's edge, so you have an uninterrupted view of the water at all hours. From the lanai we saw humpback whales breaching, turtles swimming, and of course, surfers. We had front row seats for each day's sunset. At night, we had the most gorgeous views of the Pacific night time sky after the moon set. When we did go to sleep, it was with the sounds of the surf breaking just a few feet from the room. And yes, you can see the ocean from the master bed! The condo is in "brand-new" condition: kitchen appliances, furniture, TV, bathrooms etc, were all clean and new. It's also very well furnished with all those extras that make your stay so much more comfortable. We spent a couple of days at Poipu beach, and everything we needed for a perfect day at the beach was already in the condo: cooler, beach chairs, beach towels, a beach umbrella, even a little cart to carry all this from the parking lot to the sand. We felt perfectly at home here. We shopped at Costco in Lihue for our groceries, and cooked breakfast and dinner several times in the very well organized kitchen. And we didn't have to wash dishes because the condo is equipped with a dishwasher. Now that we are back in snowy Chicago, we miss having our meals at the table with its beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. The building and grounds at Kuhio shores are kept in immaculate condition. Condo staff were a consistent presence on the grounds during our visit and the condition of the facility is a testament to their hard work. There are laundry facilities on the third floor, just steps away from the condo. Bring quarters if you'll need to do some washing. Communication with the owners was very efficient and easy. We had a rapid response to all our inquiries and found it very easy to do business with them. While we have traveled extensively for business and pleasure, this was our first experience in renting a condo from the owner for a vacation. Without reservation, we are very glad that we chose to stay at this condo.

Aloha! Thank you for allowing me to be your first guest in your 2010 remodel of Sunset Poipu. Sunset Poipu is amazing - simple but elegant. It only takes a second for one to realize that the owners care about quality and paid attention to every detail in order to insure that visitors will enjoy every minute of their stay. It is 'brand-new' and 'fully furnished' with all the extras to make your stay special. The view from the Lanai is breathtaking - there are no words to describe the experience of watching humpback whales, turtles, surfers and the incredible sunrises and sunsets. After an activity filled day, I looked forward to relaxing on the lanai, listening to the sounds of the crashing surf and taking in the moon and star filled sky. The building and condo staff work hard to keep the building and grounds impeccable! They were also helpful with recommending places to visit, directions and making one feel welcomed. The condo is centrally located making it easy to see the beautiful island of Kauai. Since the new Kukui'ula Marketplace is less than a mile away, I enjoyed walks to the Marketplace to shop at the boutiques and indulge at Bubba's Burgers and Lappert's - yummy. From the condo, one only had to walk next door to enjoy fine dining at the Beach House Restaurant (arrive early and capture the spectacular sunset). It was hard to leave but I left with memories to last a lifetime (and hope to return again one day). I will recommend Sunset Poipu to all my friends and family! Mahalo
